Starting an Internet Business isn’t that easy (it isn’t difficult either - it is simple but not easy). When we hear of success stories such as people in their early twenties making US$10,000 a month, we greedily jump on the bandwagon without any idea what difficulties would plague us in the next few months ahead. For most aspiring Internet marketers, it is very difficult to make their first dollar. Most would testify that it is harder to go from earning $500 a month to $5,000 a month as compared to a seasoned marketer already earning $50,000 shooting for $500,000.
Why is this so? For a few reasons:
A seasoned marketer already knows his market inside out. He knows what works and what doesn’t work. One hour of his efforts is worth much more than newbie who struggles for months.
He already has a large customer base. These customers know him, trust him and feel comfortable parting their money with him compared to trying to get a new customer to part their money with a newbie.
The speed of trust applies to his joint venture (JV) partners. When you have built good relationships with fellow Internet marketers, they would recommend your products and even sell your products for you. I know this first hand - doing JVs with seasoned Internet marketers would help you to succeed much faster compared to starting off alone. There is only so much you can accomplish alone.
There are 3 ways to get started with an Internet business:
- Google AdSense
- Promote affiliate programs
- Sell your own products
Most aspiring Internet marketers are afraid to sell their own products. They are fearful of support issues, the hassle of creating their own products and sometimes they just lack the knowledge so they turn to AdSense and affiliate marketing. However, if you really want to make good money from AdSense, you have to source for good content and get a lot of traffic. Both are commitments that you must take note of. So the headache is still there. It is just a different form of headache that you have to deal with.
Affiliate marketing has similar problems as being a merchant. You still need to market and you still need to ’sell’. The efforts amount to the same at the end of the day.
One of the best ways to make money online is to sell your own products.
